The thing about cold brew is that it really isn’t that hard to make, in spite of the fact that a glass of this delicious beverage will cost you a fair amount at your favorite coffee shop. All it takes is some time and the correct tools.

This steeping method helps to highlight the floral, fruity, chocolatey notes in your coffee grounds. Plus, brewing it this way reduces the stale, watered down, bitter flavor you can get when icing hot coffee.

In this article, we are covering the Osaka Airtight Brewing carafe, the good, and the bad.

If you are ready to hop on the cold brewing bandwagon, then Osaka’s Glass Cold Brew Coffee Steeper is a great place to start, but it's not perfect. Keep reading to learn more.

But should you buy this one?

Who is this Product Not For?

If you are clumsy, frequently drop things, or cycle hot and cold water when washing your dishes, do not get an all glass coffee maker, unless it has been tempered for heat changes.

After having this unit for only 2 weeks, I noticed a crack forming where the glass handle meets the carafe.

I am a very careful person, especially when preparing my own coffee, but in the morning there are times when I flail about near the sink.

I do not believe this crack happened because of my misuse of the item, but I can see how it could happen to anyone lacking a delicate temperament in the morning.

OVERVIEW OF FEATURES

This Osaka coffee maker allows you to make deliciously time-brewed java in just a few simple steps. In fact, it is so easy that you will wonder why everyone doesn’t do this at home.

The lid is made from high-quality silicone and glass. It can be put on the carafe while your coffee is brewing.

The lid seals the opening completely and the silicone stopper creates an airtight lock so you do not need to worry about spilling and the coffee stays fresh for up to 14 days in the refrigerator.

The design is not only functional but aesthetically pleasing as well. It looks good in any kitchen and you will feel great pride serving up your homemade blend to your friends and family.

You can also use this maker to brew hot coffee as well as tea. Just replace the coffee ground in the filter with tea leaves.

The spout and handle have been specially designed for easy pouring with no spills. It will fit in your refrigerator door with ease. The carafe is made from borosilicate glass which is also thermal shock resistant.

It does not absorb any chemicals, residue, or odors, leaving you with delicious, fresh tasting cold coffee every time you use it. The carafe can take 1 liter of liquid.

This coffee maker comes with a detailed instruction manual that has tips for making decadent cold brew like a pro.

How to Use it

Making cold brew doesn’t have to be complicated. Some cold brew dripper systems have a lot of parts to clean, and may have complicated instructions to use properly. Luckily, with this coffee maker, it couldn’t be simpler.

Start by placing the filter into the carafe and fill it with your coffee grounds. Ensure that the grounds are very coarse. Use a 1:2 (concentrate) or 1:4 coffee-to-water ratio depending how strong you prefer your coffee. Add the water to the carafe. Do not fill past the maximum line.

Using filtered water will give you the best flavor. Ensure that the stopper and lid are properly closed. Put the carafe into your fridge and leave it to brew for 12-24 hours.

Take the filter out of the carafe, and you now have fresh cold brew coffee concentrate that you can add milk or water to and enjoy.

Pros

  • The design keeps coffee sediment within the carafe.
  • Silicone lid to keep carafe airtight
  • Easy pour spout and stopper
  • Keeps coffee fresh for over 7 days
  • Stainless steel filter is easy to clean

Cons

  • Handle attachment is very thin and delicate
  • Lid leaks if overfilled
  • Glass handle feels like it could break when held

Alternatives

SEMKO Airtight Cold Brew Iced Coffee Maker

This coffee maker gives you a smooth, rich, refined taste that is around 70% less acidic than most hot brews. The pitcher is built from thick borosilicate glass that promotes excellent longevity and use.

You can use the pitcher for both hot and cold teas and coffees. The dual mesh filter is made from stainless steel. It has 0.4mm holes that allow you to properly draw the coffee’s unique flavor from the grounds without them getting into the carafe.

The coffee maker is BPA free and airtight, so it is ideal for storing your coffee once you have made it. Your cold brew can be stored in your refrigerator for up to 14 days without losing its freshness or flavor. Plus, this coffee maker comes with a 1-year quality-assurance guarantee.

Conclusion

If you would like to bring the delicious, rich, smooth flavors of cold brew into your home every day, then investing in the Osaka Glass Cold Brew Coffee Maker may be just what you need to do. But be aware of the drawbacks and consider an alternative if you have butter-fingers.
